A Coffee Reset

A few of years ago my family and I moved to Singapore; the other side of the world. I felt upside down. My health deteriorated and I was exhausted. I was bloated to the point that people offered me their seats on the subway...they pointed to my stomach; they thought I was pregnant.

I went to a doctor and he explained I was suffering from a syndrome they call (I'm not making this up) “Caucasians Living Too Close to The Equator". It was simply not in my DNA to live in such a climate. I was in a jungle and my people like it cooler and less humid.
He took some blood work and together we made some discoveries that put a finger on my feeling of…What-the-Hell-happened-to-me-and-what-did-you-do-with-my-California!?!?!?
Turns out, it’s not that I didn't like Singapore…Singapore didn't like me.

The doctor suggested (among other things) blended Coffee with added fat as a breakfast meal replacement. This would give my body a break from any input that I could control. (Singapore is filled with input that was out of my control: pollution, sound, motion, scents, air conditioning and busy streets and sidewalks ).
One of the options with this type of Coffee is to drink it for breakfast and eat again when you feel hungry. Some days, for me, it's 11 a.m. and others it's two o’clock. Either way at two o’clock, eat. Eat your normal dinner and don’t eat past 8 pm.
For me, this was a good way to calm all my body systems that were turned around from the move: stress, several time zone changes, poor food choices, headaches, fatigue, etc. By only having the coffee for breakfast, I'm got plenty of calories to feel satiated and it's easy to digest.
The results for me: I felt more energy, cravings subsided and I was no longer bloated. When I felt hungry, it usually passed within 10 minutes.
The hunger was only a craving from poor eating habits during the move. These cravings went away in three days. Also, with the time change, I was literally eating at all hours. My body's internal was confused as to why I was eating when I was usually sleeping! So imagine: I was eating food when my body was trying to rest and repair.
This gives you a simple, predictable meal at a predictable time. Your body is able to reset for whatever reason you got off track.
Do make sure not to wait too long before eating. If your body is indeed in need of food, feed it. If you just had your coffee, give it a few minutes and the hunger should pass.
